A great team effort by the Arrows 19 and under team has elevated them into second place on the State League ladder.
Five minutes into the game it looked as if Cavaliers would be too good strong for the Arrows they were leading 7 goals to 1 and the Arrows looked shell shocked. Then the fight back began, Arrows applied full court pressure and were rewarded with much needed turnovers. They went into the break only 1 goal down at 13 – 14.
The second quarter went goal for goal for the first 8 minutes then Arrows started to surge ahead scoring 8 goals – 2 in the remaining 7 minutes. Arrows defenders Ellie Fleming and Alanna Cooper were both looking strong and made Cavaliers goalies hesitant with their shots. Arrows defenders were rebounding well and creating lots of drive through the centre court. Arrows went into the half time break leading by 5 goals 27 – 22.
The third quarter saw Cavaliers peg back a few goals early but Arrows kept their cool and continued to play good confident netball. Taylor Kemp, Clare Grace and Adelle Salter worked hard to bring the ball down the court and Felicity George at WA was the main feeder and her placement of the ball to GS Stacey Fox was a highlight of the game. Stacey did the rest and only missed 1 goal for the quarter. But Cavaliers had reduced the margin to 2 goals at the last break Arrows 38 – Cavaliers 36.
Both Coaches made changes for the last quarter, with Arrows bringing Phoebe Dillon on at GS, Stacey went out to GA, Adelle went to WA and Felicity went to the bench with an injury. It was a risky move but it paid dividends as Arrows surged ahead with 9 unanswered goals and were leading by 11 with a few minutes remaining. Cavaliers never gave up and put 4 goals on the board in the dying minutes but it was too little too late. Arrows won the game by 7 goals.
Arrows 50 Cavaliers 43.
A great result for Arrows a real confidence booster.
Player of the Match was Arrows Goal Shooter Stacey Fox scoring 43 of her teams 50 goals.
